Elidran glanced at Zeph, seeming a little curious. How did that old man's mind work, - or anything else? It wasn't clear what Elidran was thinking, and he tried to concentrate on nothing by looking another way shortly after.

Zeph kept his smile while they were both silent. A large field was front of them and they decided to cross through as it seemed abandoned. But high grass means sometimes... snakes. And thus, Zeph began to run because of one of them.

As an usual response, Elidran had raised his eyebrows. What the heck was Zeph doing? Running around the field like a happy lamb?
Not much later he noticed that there was a snake in front of Elidran himself. In a reflex, Elidran quickly drew his sword and was about to cut the snake.

Zeph turned over and saw Elidran raising his sword. He sighed and came back. Because of his speed, he went rather far. Too far actually.

He grinned as the snake actually decided to slip away instead of attacking him. Ah well, no big deal. Elidran sheathed his sword again and continued to walk, not saying a word.

He stepped foreward a little more, carefully.

"Did you... kill the snake ? Or is he gone ?..."

He stopped when he was at Elidran and walked next to him.

"Gone. Killing wasn't necessary." He simply stated. He hadn't felt the urge to kill it either if it was needed, though.

For some reason, Zeph saw himself in this snake. He was about to be killed, but realesed in freedom.

"Phew... It scared me, I don't have weapons to beat a snake !"

But panicking in front of a snake is not the solution either...

"Does anyone?" He stated, bluntly. He couldn't picture anyone hunting down.. well.. snakes all day. Even though those could be more annoying than any Beorc or Laguz anyway.

"Bows are mainly useful for long shot... but sounds totally obvious", he joked.

He started picturing Zeph shooting at snakes. First, his thoughts gave him a blank face, then he hit a grin.
"Yeah. Extremely obvious, old man."

They were walking for two hours now and the sign of boredomness and tiredness appeared in Zeph. He sighed loudly and slowed down his steps.

He drank water and kept walking.

... The simple sight of this surprisingly cute face of Elidran made Zeph burst of laughing.

"Oh my, Eli, I wish you could see your face ! I don't even know if it's cute or ridiculous ! I guess it's ridiculously cute ~ Really, thanks for it, you made my day !" he patted his back as if they were old friends. Zeph was the only old person, though.

This kind of face is the last thing you expect from Elidran, indeed.
